All About Me
The workshop begins by focussing on healthy living, values, personality styles,
goal setting, decision making, communicatin, conflict resolution, feedback & learning styles.
My Portfolio:
Next we look at your skills and strengths and discuss what should be included in the job searching
portfolio. Resume and cover letter formats are reviewed and you will learn how
to conduct an effective resume.
The Changing World of Work
Find out about specific local labour market information using the YES Resource Centre. Learn how
the workforce is changing and learn how to conduct an effective job search.
Apprenticeship Information:
Look at general and industry-specific apprenticeship information. Explore the skilled trades,
and consider the vast number of jobs that are now apprenticeable.
Health and Safety:
This section explores health and safety on the job and your legal rights and responsibilities at work.
The Interview:
Review different interview styles. Learn how to prepare for interviews by looking at do's and don'ts. Practice
providing good answers to typical interview questions.
Now that I have a Job, How do I keep it?
Finally, you will prepare for success on the job by looking at employer expectations, and common
reasons for terminating staff. Discover work from an employer's perspective with the "Job Posting"
scenario game.
