Summer Jobs Service
The Summer Jobs Service program provides year-round job search information for students.
All students have access to the services found in the YES Resource Area. Students
also have access to all YES workshops.
During the Summer Months, YES runs the Summer Jobs Service program for students who are:
15-24 years of age (up to 29 if disabled)
planning to return to school in the fall
residents of Ontario and eligible to work in Canada;
hired by a person to whom they are NOT related (eg. son, daughter, spouse, brother, sister)
not currently working for the employer applying for the subsidy (exception: youth whose part-time
jobs-24 hours a week or less-will be increased to full-time-35 hours a week or more - while they are in the program.
Job binders listing summer jobs with employers seeking student employees are placed
in the YES Resource Area in May. Eligible students can register for the SJS program and apply for these positions by
attaching a letter of eligibility from the YES Resource Area. If you are looking for a summer job, START EARLY. Even if
you are a high school student who is in school until June, it is a good idea to begin looking in early May. Many employers
hire early for jobs that start later in the season.
