YES Employment Services offers computer-based General WHMIS training
through mh NewMedia that satisfies provincial and federal legislative requirements.
You can complete WHMIS training at your own pace on a computer in our Resource
Area, and print out a certificate as soon as you successfully complete
four segments of training and testing. The entire process takes about 1.5 hours
Resource Area staff is available to assist you if you have any questions during the on-line
training.
Segment #1
Segment one provides an introduction to WHMIS, a system used to inform individuals
about hazardous chemicals. The duties and responsibilities of suppliers, employers
and workers are explained.
Segment #2
Segment two provides an overview of chemical hazards and explaines how to avoid
absorption (chemicals actually entering the body).
Segment #3
Segment three informs trainees about proper labelling and information
required for the worker who must handle controlled products.
Segment #4
The final segment discusses additional information about controlled products which
is contained on Material Safety Data Sheets.
You are tested after each segment and at the end of the training you will receive
an overall percentage score. Once you have completed the training, your name remains on file
and you can receive additional certificates if you need them. The cost for this workshop is $39.99
